Empowerment

Equity

C2C works with under-served adult learners who need skills to be more competitive in the workforce. We empower our students so they can bring about a more equitable society that meets their needs.

Our mission is to advance social and economic equity for under-served adults through academic instruction and workforce development

At C2C, we teach adults to read, write, and speak English in a vibrant multicultural community where English proficiency is a tool for success.

We equip adult learners with skills for life!  Our students improve their employment opportunities, become better citizens, acquire consumer skills, and increase their involvement in their children’s education.

Though we are run by educators, true to our name, we see our work as only being complete when it is taken into under-served communities. We do this in two ways:

As direct service providers, we see ourselves as part of the Human Services eco-system in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, and as such, we define ourselves as Community Educators–educators who see students holistically and respond accordingly.

As thought leaders in the adult education space, we have started working towards a national reputation of training and supporting other human service providers in adult education and workforce development.

Recent studies by the Urban League show that Black and Latino families earn 20-30% less than their white counterparts in the DMV.

Without support for C2C and similar programs, this region will not only be supporting a widening racial/wealth gap, we will also be casting aside a great resource in the way of our immigrant and minority communities.

Montgomery and Prince George's Counties have shown leadership when it comes to how we deal with inequality, but non-profits like C2C need to play their role in the human services sector to make sure that our learners are competitive in the workplace.

With your support, we can make sure that this region is living up to its values as a society that believes in equity for all, and we can increase the number of flourishing citizens who pay taxes and help support the services we all enjoy.

The opportunity gap is growing wider every year. Increasingly large numbers of people are working jobs that do not give them a living wage.

“I like the way they make us feel comfortable, confident, and excited to learn more”

-Marwa, C2C Student
